THE WHOLE OF INDIA IN ONE BOTTLE

Jaisalmer Indian Craft Gin, distilled at one of India’s oldest distilleries, encapsulates the rich heritage and history of the Indian city of Jaisalmer, known as the jewel in India’s crown. Jaisalmer Gin’s signature drink celebrates the origin of the Gin & Tonic in British Colonial India, where Indian Tonic Water made with quinine was first created and used to combat malaria in the 1800s.

THE NAME

Jaisalmer Indian Craft Gin takes its name from the storic city of Jaisalmer, the Golden City, located in the North West of India in the state of Rajasthan. Described as the jewel in India’s crown Jaisalmer is steeped in history and is home of the renowned Golden Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, constructed of sandstone walls that appear golden at sunset. The city of Jaisalmer bursts with colour, festivals, royal traditions, richness and splendour of the city is reflected perfectly in Jaisalmer Indian Craft Gin, harking back to the imperial age of the Maharajas.

THE BOTTLE

Jaisalmer Indian Craft Gin is presented in a chic, frosted black bottle with touches of raised gold on the label, reflecting its royal heritage and the golden colour of the Jaisalmer Fort. The black buck in the logo is taken from the Jaisalmer Royal flag and the outline of the Golden Fort sits between the buck’s horns. Traditional Rajasthani decorative motifs frame the logo. The luxurious packaging reinforces Jaisalmer Gin’s regal roots and gives it stand-out on shelves and behind the bar.

THE DISTILLATION AND BOTANICALS

Jaisalmer Indian Craft Gin is a triple-distilled spirit, handcrafted in a traditional copper pot still in small batches at Rampur distillery, located in the foothills of the Himalayas. The use of botanicals is a time-honoured tradition in India and Jaisalmer Gin’s recipe is derived from the ancient Indian knowledge of herbs. Seven of the 11 botanicals used in the distillation come from India. The Master Distiller has selected Coriander and Vetiver, a complex spice with intriguing peppery notes, are grown in the fields around

Jaisalmer itself, Sweet Orange Peel from Central India which compliments the citrus and floral tones of the gin, Cubeb Pepper from Southern India, Darjeeling Green Tea leaves from Eastern India, Lemon Peel from Western India and Lemongrass from Southern India. Other botanicals include Angelica Root, Liquorice and Caraway Seeds which lend a spicy, slightly anise-tinged flavour to the gin. We wanted to retain the classic gin flavour using juniper berries whilst adding a refreshing twist with Indian botanicals. Jaisalmer Indian Craft Gin is an ‘Oasis in the Desert’.

THE SIGNATURE SERVE

Pour 35ml Jaisalmer Indian Craft Gin into a copa glass filled with fresh ice. Top with Fever-Tree Indian Tonic Water and garnish with orange peel.

Jaisalmer’s signature serve, the Jaisalmer Gin and Indian Tonic tastes like an oasis in the desert and we describe it as a drink fit for Royalty, harking back to the imperial age of the Maharajas and their moments of leisure and pleasure. Jaisalmer also makes an excellent base for exotic gin cocktails to be enjoyed by consumers the world over.
