Gunpowder Irish Gin is the love story between an Irish distiller, PJ Rigney, and the oriental botanicals he found on his travels. Rigney pushes the boundaries of gin making with his hand-crafted, small-batches of slowly distilled gin with exotic botanicals. It is only fitting that the logo consists of a jackalope, a mythical creature that appears after a Drumshanbo legend at will, as in a dream.

The mystery of the jackalope is mirrored in this exciting, arcane gin: The process starts with some ingredients collected by Rigney, then, after a slow distillation, eight botanicals are added to the copper pot: meadowsweet, cardamom, juniper berries, coriander seed, angelica root, orris root, caraway seed and star anise. The other four botanicals, the name-giving gunpowder tea, Chinese lemon, oriental grapefruit and kaffir lime, are then added to the vapour basket. Gunpowder tea is a slowly dried green tea with a bold a bright flavor, adding a spicy freshness to this gin.
